End of support for some Windows products

End of support for some Windows products

As there will be no more security patches and upgrades for Win XP Service Pack 2 and Windows 2000, it is a good idea to follow Microsoft's advice and upgrade: Either to Win XP Service Pack 3 or to newer operating systems, such as Windows Vista with SP or Windows 7. Only users with a 64-bit version of Windows XP SP2 will still receive support until April 8th 2014. Read the full information on Microsoft's website.

Users who do not upgrade will now become an even bigger target for cybercriminals, because new security holes will remain unpatched.

What you can do:

  • Downoad and install XP SP3 or
  • Upgrade your operating system to Windows Vista / Windows 7
  • In any case, keep all installed software up-to-date
  • Make sure your PC is protected by recent and comprehensive security software
